I'm happy to report an update to my earlier posts. It appears that with the newest release of Virtualbox (4.3.22), this problem seems to be fixed. I was able to install the Guest Additions for V. 4.3.22 into the current version of Windows 10 (Build 9926), and it didn't disappear. I could add mouse integration and shared folders, and access other partitions on my computer. Good thing, too, since my efforts at installing Windows 10 as a dual-boot setup in an active partition proved disastrous. The current build, if let out on its own, seems to be incredibly unstable (it never made it past 3-4 actions without locking up so completely that the only way to recover was to turn off the power and reboot). It also, as they say, does not work and play well with others: it refused to let the Windows 7 part of my dual-boot setup operate, and it finally ended up (apparently) trashing my MBR so that the computer wouldn't reboot at all. It took a day of hard work to repair that, and so I'm not letting Windows 10 out of the (Virtual)box again until it can be made a little less dangerous. So it's good that it seems to be possible now to run it there, at least.
